Dr. Peter Anderson is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He provides neuropsychological and psycho-educational assessments to children and adolescents, who present with learning, social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties. He has worked with children and youth with and without medical conditions. Examples of the former include seizure disorders, hydrocephalus, concussions or other brain injuries, premature birth, cardiac conditions, and genetic disorders.
In his work with children/adolescents and their families, Dr. Anderson works to increase their understanding of strengths and weaknesses and how these factor into the difficulties that brought them to the assessment. He engages with children, adolescents and their families in a respectful and collaborative manner to assist them in understanding their strengths and difficulties and how best to move forward in their development. Throughout the years, Dr. Anderson has also enjoyed conducting medical-legal assessments and has participated in court proceedings and as an Expert Witness for the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
He completed programs in psychology and clinical neuropsychology at the Houghton College (New York), West Chester University (Pennsylvania) and earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (Neuropsychology Track) in 1998 at the University of Windsor. He taught at the International School of Neuropsychology (Netherlands) and has been employed in a number of medical and mental health settings in the United States and Canada. Dr. Anderson currently works at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario as a staff neuropsychologist. Prior to this, he worked on a variety of teams at the Hospital for Sick Children. He has maintained a private practice for the past 20 years.
Other professional interests include the provision of clinical teaching and consultation, as well as the clinical training and supervision of psychology students and residents.
